Isaac's notes: "Today I woke up about 7:30 AM. We had to wake up pretty early because we had to drive 8 hours from Oakhurst California to Ashland Oregon. We were about 6 1/2 hours in when Dad saw smoke ahead of us and Mom read the news about a forest fire 30 miles from Ashland (on the border of California and Oregon). The highway took us right next to it. Only about a quarter mile away the fire was burning trees and houses and farms. The highway must have just opened up. Then we arrived at the hotel. It was pretty nice and we ate dinner at the restaurant there. Andrew and I played two games of tennis and then we went to bed."
